History
In 2005, George S. Yacoubian, Jr., founded the Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief (SOAR) (www.soar-us.org) to honor his oldest daughter, Liliana, who was adopted from Armenia in the spring of 2006. In 2016, Liliana and her sisters (Sophie and Tessa) asked if they were limited to “only” helping orphaned Armenian children. To show the girls that charity should extend beyond one’s nationality, George founded Turkey Taxi (EIN 36-4851053) in the fall of 2016 as a way of helping people closer to home.
Mission
Established in the fall of 2016, Turkey Taxi delivers care packages on Thanksgiving and Easter to homeless citizens living on the streets of Philadelphia.
Our Founders
George S. Yacoubian, Jr.
George S. Yacoubian, Jr. has a Master’s Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice Management, a J.D. from the Rutgers University School of Law, and an LL.M. in Transnational Law from the Temple University School of Law. He is a solo practitioner in the Philadelphia area, specializing in criminal defense and international human rights law. George has three daughters: Liliana, Sophie, and Tessa.
